HISTORY
Creative Health Training grew out of Phoene Cave’s work with The Musical Breath.
Care homes and hospices asked for specific training in singing for lung health to support those in their care.
As this work developed, Phoene created a broader training around the use of body, voice and breathwork in music – including soundscapes and personalised playlists, as well as instrumental improvisation.
This developed into trauma-informed self-care for staff using movement and mindfulness, sound and silence.
As Phoene’s creative work began to incorporate multidisciplinary arts (see TRANSIT Collective), she sought out a team of Arts Therapists and Dance in Health practitioners to be able to offer a cross-arts based offer including Art, Movement, Drama as well as Music.
Phoene has delivered Creative Health Day Trainings at hospices in Rochester, Worthing and Manchester, in care homes in Wandsworth, for medical students at Imperial College, OT and physio students at Brunel University. Hybrid Week long Trainings delivered with colleagues for hundreds of nursing students at Roehampton University since 2022
“What a wonderful day! A massive heartfelt thank you to your gorgeous team for putting on such a beautiful week. I look forward to the Creative Arts Health Training so much and the creative presentations from the first year students were such an amazing testament to the safe environment you all created. It was moving to see their personalities and creativity shine through.”
